Podcast Episode 1: The One with a Chick and a Duck

It was about time… after a long time we finally have a new website. The old one wasn’t so bad, but now that we are so many beavs and now that we have our own Podcast, i thought its time to start from scratch. Many beavers also didn’t know that we actually have our own website. This is thanks to facebook, where you can’t make sticky-threads and post important info right on top of the page. Also you aren’t allowed to include a link to a website in the header image… so let’s see how long it goes, before facebook deletes our header image. I just don’t get it. I mean, on facebook you can create a group, but you aren’t allowed to post a link to your group-website in the header? Anyways… let’s talk about exciting things!

I hope you like the new look and feel of the website. As mentoined before, if you like to listen to Podcasts, we have our own now woohoo! Well, Podcasting is actually new for me, so don’t expect it to be an “awesome” first Podcast hehe. Also, speaking in english is still hard for me, but practice makes perfect :D
I didn’t know how much work goes into a proper Podcast. You need a good Mic, you need to have a good program to record and cut all the stuff and if you wanna make an interview over Skype… well… it’s not as easy as it sounds.

How did you find out about AnimationMentor?

I actually applied for the Office Manager position at Doublefine, but I didn’t know much about video games and I didn’t get the job. But they liked me well enough to recommend me for the job at Animation Mentor. AM was so small that I didn’t even know what position I was interviewing for! Luckily, they put me in the Admissions Advisor role and the rest is history!

What is your job at AnimationMentor?

I’m the Admissions Advisor—basically once someone applies until they start classes, I’m the person who helps everyone along. I’ve seen at least 1700 people graduate; it’s pretty exciting to be part of so many people’s dreams.

How did you find out about AnimationMentor?

I had been attending ITT Techinical Institute for Digital Entertainment and Game Design but I felt that the program wasn’t all that I thought it would be. It was very broad in what I was being taught and I felt like a lot of my questions weren’t being answered. Then during my winter break in 2008 I started doing research on 3d animation and Animation Mentor was the first link to come up and I was just floored by their collection of student showcases.

How did you find out about the AM Eager Beavers?

Ahhh, my family away from my real family, haha. I found out about the Eager Beavers through the AM forums. I was cruising the campus trying to soak in whatever I could when I ran across a post which was letting everyone know that a facebook group had been made for spring and summer term students. I believe I was the 46th Eager Beaver to join.

How did you find out about AnimationMentor?

I attended this basic maya course a while back and someone mentioned it. I signed up to their newsletter and was amazed. I kept the idea in the drawer for a while ( a few years actually!) until I realised it was the way to go.

How did you find out about the AM Eager Beavers?

Ahh how we have grown! I heard about it form the AM forum, It was either you or Jarrod who added me, I can’t remember, I think I was around number 17 or something.

How did you find out about AnimationMentor?

I had finally made up my mind that I was going to go back to school to become a Animator. For the most part I was torn between going to the Art institute or the Academy of Art, but was still having a hard time figuring out which way to go. Both were way beyond my budget and took way longer than I wanted but they seemed like my only real options. During my research to figure out which one I was going to attend I came across a website that listed the top 10 online animation schools and I was just skimming the list seeing all the same schools I had already come across in my research when I noticed one that I had not seen before. Animation Mentor, what the heck is that? I had never heard of it so I checked it out. The more I read the more it intrigued me.

How did you find out about the AM Eager Beavers?

Well I met Pascal almost immediately after applying to AM and getting on the forums, he had the brilliant Idea to start a Facebook Group. Of course then it was just called Animation Mentor :) and there was like 3 of us, I loved the idea so much I kind of got carried away scouring the forums for other classmates to add to the group :)
